Not Approved Maintenance Data

This is the most important section on this page. Maintenance Flight is a podcast and a place where technicians talk about their work. Nothing on the Service is approved maintenance data, and nothing on it is an instruction to carry out maintenance.

Do not use anything here to determine airworthiness, to decide how a task should be performed, or to support a maintenance release. Those decisions belong to the current approved data for the specific aircraft, together with the procedures of the organisation doing the work.

• The manufacturer’s maintenance, component, illustrated parts and structural repair manuals, and any other instructions for continued airworthiness.
• Airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters, and the applicable regulations of your civil aviation authority.
• Your employer’s approved procedures under its own certificate, and the judgement of the certificated person signing the work.

Aircraft Differ

Where anything said on the Service differs from the approved data, the approved data governs and the Service is wrong. Aircraft vary by serial number, configuration, modification and service bulletin status, and operating rules. A fault and its fix discussed for one airframe may not apply to another that appears identical.

Nothing on the Service creates any professional, advisory, or supervisory relationship, and nothing on it substitutes for type-specific training or the authority of the person certifying the work.
